Spring Home Tour

I've been adding little touches of Spring around the house these past few weeks and I'm very excited to be taking you on my spring home tour today! My dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life has organized, once again, a whole week of Spring home tours for you to enjoy. At the end of this post, you'll find the links to all the blogs participating in this blog hop. If you're coming from my friend Laura from Duke Manor Farm, welcome! I love Laura's home, inside and out!

For those of you new to RLC, I'm Cristina a Colombian-born gal with a strong accent that dislikes being in front of a camera; but the one who loves to be busy working on something. Yep. You can find me crafting, working on a small paint / re-purposed project, building a piece of furniture, or renovating an entire room. And that's precisely what I was doing last November in this, our family room. You can check the before and after of this room {here}.

The walls got a new coat of paint and the furniture was updated.

Family Room Makeover  |  Wall Art  |  Side Table - similar |

Even our Louie benefited from this makeover because I built him his very first piece of real estate which doubles as a side table.  Oh, and he didn't like the furry bedding, I had to exchange it for a more rugged material that he likes to scratch.

The other side of the room now sports this huge built-in unit that took me about two months to build. It was the solution to all the chaos happening in this room before.
Built-in Unit  |  Rug  |  Rolled Arm Accent Chair  |  Sconces  |  Drum Pendant Light - similar  |

There's plenty of storage behind those doors.
I still need to organize the base cabinets.

There's also plenty of shelf display, but I abide by the "less is more" in this type of situation. I switched a few decorative pieces (that were here since the holidays) for blue books.

In my latest project, these easy and fun moss balls rest on a tray on the coffee table.

In the adjacent room, the kitchen, everything stayed quite the same.
Kitchen Makeover  |  Kitchen Stool  |   Light Pendant  | Market Wooden Crate  |

Hydrangeas on the kitchen island keep me looking forward to the sunny days ahead. I'm so very happy with this bouquet, it has lasted the longest! Almost a full week and still looking this good. ;)
A new rug is perhaps, the biggest change here. Louie loves to mess around with it  >:(

On the other side of the kitchen, the space that used to be our dining room is now my office.
|  Chair  |  Table  |  Canvas Backpack  |  Pendant light  |

I love to work here, it's such a bright room.  Flowers make it even brighter.
I added this planter gallery on that back wall. Shiplap remnants were the perfect material to build the cute boxes with the recessed bottoms. And no, those aren't real plants, otherwise, they wouldn't survive a week!

Removing the bench is on my do list already, we hardly ever use it. Well, my son was the one who liked to lie down there while I worked, but now that he doesn't fit in it any longer I better get rid of it. :(  Instead, I'm going to create a desk area where my computer will stay put, that way I have a table in the center of the room to work on projects.
I like these herb tags I got at the Target dollar spot. Yep. only one dollar each. I love to add tags to my baskets even if what's store is totally unrelated.

This is the new monitor and the computer that need to go to the other side. I'll probably need to change the chair for one that swivels.
I've been working here, organizing those base cabinets, and getting rid of some kitchen/dining room essentials I've had in here. But now, I'll be using all of that "new" storage for office supplies.
Build-ins  |  Coffered ceiling  | Door Trim

As of right now, I'm just enjoying the warm spring vibe in this room!
