Christmas Home Tour

The living room

It is an exciting day, it's time for Christmas décor galore during the Christmas home tours hosted by my friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life! Marty hosts the best home tours and I'm thrilled to be joining in on the fun.

If you're stopping by from DIY Beautify, welcome! Cindy is a girl after my own heart decorating and DIY'ing her home one single project at a time. You're going to love her home. You should check her pretty porch when you get there. ;)

Today I'm sharing my living and family room all dressed up for Christmas!

My family loves when I use red to decorate our home for the holidays and I think this year I gave them plenty of it. I sprinkled red and dark accents all around the house as you can see in a minute.

Below each picture, I added the links to where to buy the décor pieces & furnishings. I also included the links to most of the DIY projects that I've worked on in each of these rooms.

THE LIVING ROOM

Our living room is the first room you see after passing the front door. Did you notice our Louie 🐶 there by the steps?

Oh, he decided this was the time to photobomb most of the pics! Look for him in some of the pictures below.

Switching the rug was the biggest change in this room. I love to use this rug during winter, it feels so good walking on it, and the red color is perfect during Christmas and Valentine's.

At first, I thought of using this rug in the office, but nope it was too much for that space. Here in the living room, it creates the perfect balance with the white and dark accents that this room possesses.

I also switched the curtains, and here I have to make a parenthesis to tell you to go shop your very own home before going shopping anywhere else!

The rug, those dark curtains, and most of the décor in this room, I had in storage in my basement.

On the coffee table, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and let's say Vixen, are waiting for their friends to arrive to head up north.

I made the reindeer's name sign, but oh my, it's so crooked. 🤦‍♀️

I finally found the companion to Rudolph. I got the sitting reindeer at Target. It came with a pretty collar, so I had to make a similar one for the other guy. He also got a few coats of white paint.

The little Christmas tree was set in a different spot from last year where it stayed on the other side of the sofa, close to the window. Here in this new spot, I can enjoy it even more, especially when working in the office.

I like the simplicity of this little tree, but it still needed more ornaments than the ones I used last year. Last week I got crafty and using air-dry modeling clay I made a good bunch of these cute little stars.

You can check the complete details on how to make air-dry clay ornaments right HERE.

On the other side of this room, you'll find Mr. RLC's workstation. I only added a few little touches of Christmas décor on the shelves.

As usual, his desk is packed with his electronics.

Someone got tired of waiting.

He's asking... Are you ready?!

Nope. Not yet, Louie.

Let's take a look at the office!

This is the view when coming from the kitchen. A pretty peel & stick paper on the wall and a couple of paper stars gave this room a brand new look.

Fairy lights always bring the spirit of the holidays up a notch wherever you add them.

THE FAMILY ROOM

This room was kept mostly neutral to balance out all the deep colors being used in the other rooms.
|  Coffee Table  |  Rug |  Pendant Light  |  Chair  | Pillow |

The main Christmas tree was packed full of snowballs and little red accents.
Mirror | Joy Marquee Sign | Pillow |

On the mantel is a trio of sweater stockings that I've had for many years to create coziness.
Under the Christmas tree is a joy sign that I love because it's lit and it looks super cute at night.
Looking the other way, the built-in, the biggest project I've ever tackled, looked so good and organized. The less I put on those shelves the more organized they look.

On the coffee table, a tray is corralling a Christmas scene
| Metal Truck | Gold Tray |

This is the spot where you're going to find me in a few days, snuggling up with a cup of hot cocoa and watching a marathon of Christmas movies!

You can also check this cute set of floating shelves in our POWDER ROOM.

And stay tuned for the tour of our bedrooms in an upcoming post.

Here's a peek at the master bedroom.
