Christmas Home Tour

I'm so very excited to be joining my friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life on another edition of the Christmas Home Tours.  Five days- 30 homes full of Christmas decor inspiration. Today is day one and Marty is kicking off the tours by showcasing her home dressed in a beautiful neutral palette that she infused with her classic style.

This year I decided to go back to our family's favorite theme: red and white. Yes, we are a bunch of traditionalists that love the classic Christmas staples.

Let's start the tour here in our family room, where the biggest change is the bright red carpet I laid on top of the regular rug we use year-round. Shopping the home sure is fun. I've had this red carpet for over 15 years, It was used for a few years in our dining room, but we got tired of it and sent it to the basement where it stayed this entire time. I love the big pop of color it gives to the room and how soft it is.

Last week I visited The Old Lucketts Store holiday house and some of the items that came home with me were the big star above the mantel and the chunky felt ball garland.

Take the tour of the Lucketts Holiday House right HERE.

The blue tones on the carpet were brought out onto the throw pillows and blanket.
I like to display the items I've created throughout the years all around our home, like the sign, the side table/dog house, and the candlesticks on the mantel.

The huge built-in is so far my biggest built. Not only do I love all the storage it provides, but I like to decorate those shelves for each season.

A Christmas village was the theme this year.

And this guy is the sentinel. :)

A scary face, says my daughter! :D

On the coffee table, I created a little winter wonderland that glows when the lights are turned on.

You can see more details about this Festival of Trees right HERE.

On the other side of this long room, we have our kitchen, the heart of our home.

Little Christmas wreaths on the top cabinets give the entire kitchen a sprinkle of holiday cheer.

It was my first time creating these cranberry luminaries, they are so easy to make and they are very pretty!!

The items you need: Clear glass jars, pine clippings, fresh cranberries, a floating candle for each jar, and water!

The kitchen table was set up with regular white dishes, plaid red napkins, and a bowl full of glass ornament balls as a centerpiece.
Let's head to my office, the previous dining room.

Right there, by the side of the fridge, I installed this plate rack where I love to display cutting boards or like on this occasion, serving platters, they act as wall art.

I taped a scalloped paper border found at Target on each of the little shelves. A dollar well spent!

I call this space, my gift-wrapping station.  Although, the wrapping is almost done. I'm now working on Christmas cards.

This is my office, but we also use it as our dining room for special occasions or for when we have dinner guests.

I shared more pictures of this room right HERE.

The living room is perhaps the room we use the least in our home, which I kind of like because it doesn't get messy that often.

I changed the rustic coffee table for this affordable, modern one and I'm happy with it. It makes the room feel more spacious.

Little white Christmas trees, votive holders, books, and gifts serve as coffee table decor.

The other side of the room is adorned with one of my latest builds, the advent calendar.

Even when the kids were not as grown as they're now -teens and young adults - we used our Advent calendar with words, and stories. We all write words that can create meaningful and beautiful stories. Then, we take turns telling those stories, during or after dinner.

You can get the free plans to build your very own House Advent Calendar right HERE.

Bruce the moose makes his holiday appearance once again.
This year I created this area to take our shoes off in the little foyer. My red bench couldn't fit in any better!

We're so ready to hit the slopes! :D
Well, that's if it snows someday!

  11. This seems like an odd way to start a compliment, but I am definitely not a fan of the white walls trend in decorating. However, you do it brilliantly. And, if I were in the market, I would hire you to decorate my home.
