Top Ten Projects of 2017

I've been putting together this top ten project post every year. It's been an excellent way to see all that was accomplished during the past twelve months.

But, it's also a way for me to feel less guilty about not working during these two final weeks and instead feel like, hey, what the heck, it was a lot of work, and now I deserve to take these two weeks. :)

So, yeah, I went to check all those projects that got the most views to create the following countdown. →

As usual, there were some projects that I thought would do better and didn't even make it, and others were a total surprise to me to see them climb and make it to this list.

So, let's start at number TEN!

10. THE EASIEST DOOR TRIM
Chalkboard  |  Coffered Ceiling  |  Mercantile Sign

This was indeed an easy project. 1 x pine material and straight cuts for a simple door trim.

This is one of the biggest projects I've ever tackled.

Well, well, let me rephrase that... This was the biggest project I've ever been involved in. My brother-in-law was a massive help during the process of building this deck.

He did 80% of the work, but I was at his side, working with him during all the phases of this build. Every day I worked on this, I went to bed feeling like I had carried the world's weight on my shoulders. Ouch! My back hurts just thinking about that.

Anyhoo, the pain is gone, just the same as the ugly space this was before. That's one of the aspects I like about DIY. You invest time and energy into a project, and then all that's to do is enjoy the fruits of your hard work.

This is one of those projects I thought would do better than sit in ninth place.

8. KITCHEN MAKEOVER
York Three Light Pendant  |  School House Ceiling Light  |  Area Rug |   Kitchen Stools

One of the last projects of the year, the kitchen revamp, made it to the eighth spot.

During this makeover, one of my "a-ha-moments" was discovering that painting the kitchen cabinets the second time around wasn't as involved as the first time. ;)

I'm loving my new bright kitchen.

7. STRING LIGHTS ON DECK
String lights |  Patio Set with Firepit  |  Rug  | Patio Umbrella

Adding lights to the deck was one of those last-minute projects that proved that adding lights to an outdoor space can be simple and inexpensive.

6. COASTAL VOTIVES

These coastal votives were a repurposed project where the power of painting played a big role.

5. DIY COMMAND CENTER

Nothing beats organization!

Pieces of wood from the scrap pile and some tools were necessary to create this wall organizer and keep my desk clutter-free.

4. LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER

A few projects went into the transformation of this room. A board and batten wall, windows and door trim, crown molding, and furniture makeovers. They all were the character this room needed.

3. OUTDOOR SERVING CART

A great piece of furniture for outdoor entertainment or even for indoor use if you have the space.

2. CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR
Pendant light  |  Build-ins  |  Tablescape

There is always one project, in this case, a post, that made it to the top ten thanks to Pinterest.

The Christmas home tour was that post this year. Only three weeks ago, it went live and made it to the top second spot. Sasweet!  :)

Wouldn't you love to have tons more posts like this?

1. DOUBLE LAYER DRAWER ORGANIZATION

Finally, here is the project that got the most views this year...  The double drawer organizer. I love it!
