Change's Coming to the Boy's Room

Kids grow up way too fast!! One day they are babies, the next you have a toddler, and soon after a teen and a grown-up young person is right in front of you!

Are we supposed to change the room they inhabit according to their ever-changing life stages?

Ha, I've tried!

You can see it in this post below, with all the makeovers that this little bedroom has been going through. From a nursery to a young boy's bedroom. And yet, another makeover is in the works.

I was ready to begin work in the family room when my boy, the boy that hardly ever asks for anything, requested a bedroom makeover!

I kind of looked at him in disbelief when he said, he needed a desk in his room, and as a matter of fact, he said he wanted to have kind of a new room! :)

I just had to promise him that his bedroom makeover would be my very next project.

A DRAGON LAND BEDROOM

He has a small bedroom, the bedroom that once belonged to his sister when she was the only kid in this household.

At that time the room was transformed into a land of dragons...

Zack & Wheezie, Ord, Cassie...

Yep. My daughter's favorite T.V. show at the moment was Dragon Tales.

As we awaited the arrival of our baby boy, we got rid of the dragons.

BABY BOY NURSERY

Big girl was transferred to a bigger room and I kept busy decorating the nursery.

All the colorful dragons and meadows were replaced with white and baby blue stripes, which by the way didn't last long.

I loved the tranquility of this room at that time.

A TODDLER THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE BEDROOM

Baby boy grew fast and in no time he was obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine.

A colorful room came back to life as his room was transformed into a train factory with Thomas taking center stage.

That little boy spent countless hours playing around that train table with Thomas, James, Henry, Gordon... Oh and that devious Diesel 10!

BABY COUSIN'S VISIT

The room has stayed pretty much the same. I haven't done anything to the walls or ceiling. The Thomas the Tank Engine obsession subsided and the trains and bedding went to storage.

Two years ago we were having visitors, my sister and her baby boy came to stay with us for a month, because of that, I found a crib to make things easier for my sister and nephew.

A PRE-TEEN BOY BEDROOM

The visitors left and the crib was taken out, well, I decided to use a part of the crib as a headboard, the other part went to the guest room as a daybed.

This pre-teen bedroom has been a very boring one...

This is the room where I've been bringing things that I cannot accommodate in any other room in the house.

Remember this buffet/dresser that I scored for free in Craiglist?

Its final placement was right here. My boy hates it!

Check the complete makeover of this buffet right HERE.
This big chair that I had in my room found a sunny spot right here by the window, blocking the entrance to the closet.

Surprisingly, my son likes this chair, he says it's very comfy, he hasn't even paid attention to all those flowers! :D

Here's a view of that wall that's in front of the bed with the small closet in the far right.

In order to take these pics, I had to move the chair from side to side.

Here's the closet that he never uses and I don't blame him. Pathetic.

His love for trains has been replaced with Bakugans, Bayblades, and lately Minecraft, although he doesn't want a themed room this time.

He's almost reaching his teen years, he wants an older boy room.

The ceiling is one of the things I need to address immediately.  I painted a sky full of "clouds" for the Dragon room.

Ha, what a disaster!

I still need to learn how to paint clouds, these didn't cut it at all. :)

Oh well, stay tuned for the progress in this room. I think I'm getting in that closet first.

;)
