Fall Home Tour - 2016

Hi everyone! So glad you found your way here to this year's Fall Home Tour edition put together by Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life
If you're coming from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia, welcome! Isn't Kristin's home gorgeous?! It was her home, especially the kitchen, the one that inspired my blogging journey, you have to check it out. ;)

If you're new here, I'm Cristina and yes, it all started with the need to update my kitchen, since then, I got hooked to DIYs, repurposed and decor projects and here is where I share all about it.

front porch with blue door and shutters, wooden and white steps, red step stool with pinecone display, fall sign

But hey, it's Fall or almost Fall y'all! And this is a home tour.

diy wooden wheelbarrow full of fall goodies, wooden doormat, mums, pinecone stand, blue door
Red Step Stool  |  Wooden Doormat
I spent a good part of my weekend trying to bring Fall to this beautiful porch with the addition of my newly built wheelbarrow. I just love it!

Wheelbarrow
Even though the temperature was telling me: "Hello Cristina, it's still Summer!", I persevered and made it thru lots of sun, sweat, the most pesky mosquitoes ever, and ended up with a gorgeous porch dressed in its best Fall attire. ;)

red barn, print, yellow leaves garland, white pumpkin, vase full of leaves

But let's go inside! This entire home tour was inspired by this print of a red barn. - A New England Bach Festival Fall 1986 - A free find I scored over Craiglist like three months ago, I just couldn't wait to bring it a top my fireplace in the family room.

family room with plaid chairs flanking the fireplace, curtains with plaid button, coffee table with turned legs striped rug
Curtains  |  Step Stool | Upholstered Stool
Little bits of red and yellow were sprinkled from there all throughout the house creating contrast to the regular grays and whites.

farmhouse decor

A new set of slips gave me a new pair of chairs. That's the thing I love the most about slipcovers, you invest a couple of hours on sewing them and voila, new furniture for your room. Well, it helps that the chairs have simple lines, so the sewing it's not that involved.

yellow polka dot decoupaged pumpkin, white pumpkins, autumn sign, owls
Sign  |  Pumpkin  |
The shelves got plain Fall decor with pumpkins and owls.

turned leg coffee table with white pear trio, plaid chairs and throw blanket, striped rug, bookcase
Coffee Table |  Fireplace  |  Chairs  |  Throw Blanket similar
wooden board with white pear trio on wooden board, old books

wooden antique buffet with armillary sphere, wooden leaf wall art, gray pumpkin on stand and artichokes in tray
Buffet  |  Wooden Leaf  |  Wall Plaque
The buffet in the breakfast area is a striking and versatile piece that holds ton of stuff. I was surprised at how well that leaf project worked out as wall decor. :)

raspberry tarte on white ruffled stand, orange napkins, brown bottle centerpiece, log salad plates, pears in wooden bowls, figs, leaf placemats,

During early Fall we don't have many big family get togethers, but I set this, our small kitchen table for my birthday celebration.

wooden board with old little bottles bouquets of leaves

Browns, greens, wood tones...

raspberry tart on white ruffled pedestal, tablescape for fall

And oh yeah, a delicious raspberry tart.

LOG salad plated, pear inside wooden bowl, rusty color napkin, wooden table
Wooden bowls  |  Table  |
Leaf placemats, log salad plates I found at my closest farm while looking for pumpkins (got out of there with plates and not even a single pumpkin) and pears in wooden bowls conform each place setting.

white kitchen with egg blue kitcen island, marble backsplash, diy
Kitchen Island  |  Wooden Tray  |  Roman Shade
kitchen island top with white counter and artichokes on wooden tray, wheat and cookies

As always, my kitchen decor goes to a minimum with vegetables, fruits, or something to grab on the go.

I love these bunches of wheat I found at Tjmax, I put them in this rusty holder and they fit like a charm.

Finally, my latest grab at the flea market also got some sweet Fall decor.

  15. Cristina,
Just beautiful only begins to describe your fall home tour. Admittedly, I am not a red and orange fall decor person, but that red barn print and the orange and white fabric pumpkin with a leaf stem may just convert me.
