Spring Entrance Door: A Nostalgic Easter Welcome
Spring has taken my home by storm! Lately, I’ve been busy refreshing every corner of the house for the season. It started with a mantle makeover, followed by a quick spruce-up in the dining room.
Now, the spotlight is finally on the front entrance. With the weather looking absolutely beautiful this weekend, I was thrilled to finally get outdoors and tackle a project under the sun.
After months of neglecting the exterior, this was the perfect first step toward making our home feel welcoming again.
A Meaningful Easter Tradition
This year, I wanted my spring decor to honor a very special person: my mother-in-law. The centerpiece of my door is one of her original creations—an Easter Bunny Hat she handcrafted years ago and sent as a gift to her grandkids.
Admittedly, time has left its mark. The paint has begun to peel, the bunny whiskers are a bit wild, and the delicate lace beneath the bow shows its age. But truthfully? I love it just the way it is.
Why It Matters
This piece holds so many memories for our family. It was one of the last crafts Grandma ever made, and it’s the one item my daughter asks for every single year as Easter approaches.
Having it on our door feels like having a little piece of her with us, even though she is many miles away.

Garden Updates & Weekend Gains
Even Matt stopped by to inspect Mommy’s handiwork! While I was outside, I also checked on the yellow tulips I potted last year. It’s a bit of a mixed bag in the garden right now; I planted bulbs in the ground years ago, but they’ve started growing in odd clusters. Some spots have five blooms, while others have none.
I suspect a few local critters might have enjoyed the bulbs for dinner! It looks like I’ll need to add "reorganizing the garden" to my fall To-Do list.
Real-Life DIY
I’ll be honest: looking at these photos, I really need to sand and paint that railing—the rust is definitely showing. But today wasn't about a massive renovation; it was about a quick cleanup, honoring family traditions, and enjoying the fresh air.
