My Little Christmas Mudroom

This tiny mudroom has brought me so much happiness! Dressed up for Christmas makes me all giddy. I can't help but smile every time I step in here.
If you're new to RLC, I must tell you that this tiny room was carved out of our garage this past Summer. The odd platform to get from the garage into the house was replaced with a new one a teensy bit bigger, and then, it was turned into this little room. You can check all about the garage-mudroom project right HERE.

This was the first room to get all decked out for the holidays, but somehow I couldn't stop adding Christmas cheer.  The little holiday planters were displayed here, and the small Christmas trees completed the décor in that corner.

I enjoyed this view every time I got back home.

But things were about to change...

I've been working on a room makeover for one of my daughter's friends. The girl just moved to her first apartment, and I'm helping her make it feel warm and cozy. Well, I'm in the first phase of that project, which has kept me searching Marketplace, Craiglist, and visiting lots of thrift stores, trying to find furnishings and decorative items on a budget.

During one of those searches, this pretty desk showed up, and I couldn't say no! I had no need for this, and neither did my young customer. She already had her own desk.

But, given that it was only thirty dollars, I brought it home with me, and it perfectly fits here in the mudroom!

The little drawers were filled with Christmas ball ornaments, ribbon, pens...

The top of the hutch was the ideal place to display the little Christmas trees and house. In the lower compartments, I have Christmas cards, tags, and holiday décor. I got the pretty "It's Christmas" poster at the Old Luckett's Store.

Oh, Frank's there under the Christmas tree, ready to go on to his next adventure.

A cardholder garland was added to the accordion peg rack. Yes, I'm one of those that still like to send and receive holiday cards the old way. :)

Santa's here whizzing around the place on his old tractor.

Oh well, let's take a look at the other side of the room where the sitting bench takes center stage.

Decorating with signs, it's so easy! I found these ones at the Target dollar spot.

Scarves, winter hats, gloves... This is the space for them!

Looking the other way, the storage and shoe cabinets are back there.

And here, the view towards the garage.

I hope you've enjoyed touring this room and hope you got inspired to try some of these ideas in your own home.

Guys, today at noon EST, I'm running a $500 Home Depot gift card GIVEAWAY over Instagram right HERE. I would love for one of you to be the winner. Please stop by to enter!!

  1. So much charm in such a small space! Love the desk! Did you paint it or was it already that color?
