Four Great Looking DIY Ceiling Treatments

ceiling treatments that wow
We often overlook the so-called fifth wall in a room, leaving it blank and missing a great opportunity to add dimension and style to a room.

I rounded up four ceiling treatments that I've DIY'ed and that I think have added great value to each room they've been installed. I'm adding the links for you to follow their complete details:

Using wallpaper is a wonderful way to highlight a boring ceiling and bring the eye all the way up.
The first ceiling treatment I tackled was done during my pre-blogging days, using this paintable textured wall covering.

A gold leaf kit and crown molding added to the dramatic makeover done to this little powder room.

2. Wood Beams

Add a touch of warmth to your room by installing some wooden beams on the ceiling.

Cathedral ceilings are a great feature in a room, but many times we don't know how to approach this big space and end up doing nothing to it. That was my case here in our master bedroom where the ceiling stayed untouched for many years.

Until I decided to install faux wooden beams.

2 x 4's were first installed on the ceiling and then, the beams were done with 1 x 4 material, and then, they were wrapped around the studs.

3. Coffered Ceiling

The recesses or indentations that take part of a coffered ceiling are a great way to give drama and lots of texture to a plain ceiling.

The white ceiling in our dining room was the perfect canvas for a flat coffered ceiling treatment.

Plywood, 1 x material, and crown molding were the main materials for this DIY ceiling treatment.

4. Shiplap

Popular adorning bathroom ceilings, shiplap is here to stay.

The slanted ceiling in our master bathroom was the perfect candidate for this treatment.
