Four Trending Products in our Home this Week!

Hey there!

I hope your weekend is going great!

I was busy yesterday getting everything for tax season and finishing other stuff so I could be ready for today's party. Yep. For the big game, Super Bowl LII.

I'm sending good vibes to both teams, but I think we're going to be cheering for the Eagles. Hey, The Patriots have already won too many times. Though, I wouldn't be surprised of another win. ;)

Today's post is a peek into whats happening in my life right now. I wanted to share with you this four products that I think are great, most items I have and think they might be a good addition to your household too.

1. Bathroom Vanities

This is the year for bathroom makeovers. We have three bathrooms, a powder room on the main floor, the master bathroom in my room, and the kids bathroom in the upstairs hallway that I revamped a few years ago. But, I think it's time to give it another overhaul.

Somehow, the first thing that I've been thinking of are vanities. A few weeks ago I was at the Home Depot and I saw this vanity:

And I LOVE it! I love the style, the color and most importantly, the price. $299 for vanity, countertop/sink and mirror. Who wants to DIY when you can find these deals!
Look at all that storage! This one is high on my list of possibilities for the kids bathroom.

Now, for the master bath, I need a 60" with double sinks. The prices for vanity, countertop and sink are usually above 1k. But, I just found this one down below for only $825.

That's a really good price. I like the light grey color. However, I'm not too crazy about the color of the counter, that might be the reason for the low price, but I'm still considering it.

2. Phillips Hue Lights

This week I got this awesome gift from the Home Depot: A starter kit of Philips hue lights.
I have to tell you the truth, when the package arrived and I saw the picture of the bulbs on the box I thought it was a set of regular energy efficient lights. The box stayed there in my office all day long until dinner, when my son spotted it.

He couldn't believe that I hadn't informed him on the arrival of these lights. Supposedly, these hue lights had been on his wish list for a very long time. He had never once mentioned it to me. ðŸ™„

He immediately set them up here, in the kitchen.
You can check this video after he installed them that night, the change in mood is more dramatic:

Well, besides having the option of choosing thousands of light colors, they're also:

  • Dimmable
  • You can sync them with your tv to change the lighting according to what's on the tv
  • Set them on timers to turn on or off at specific times
  • Link them with your Amazon Echo, Smart phone or Google Home assistant.

I really like them, you can control them anywhere by simply downloading the free app onto your smart phone. That's one of the things my son loves the most.

3. Google Home Mini

And well, the lights bring me to this, the Google Home Mini, it's the one we have. My son asked us to buy it in December when it was on sale. We first tried the Amazon Echo, but we didn't like it. We returned it and then bought this one:

For our family this Google home assistant has worked really well. The hue lights are set up with this as well as our phones, but we also use this Google assistant to ask anything we might do a Google search for, most of the time we get an answer. That's the main reason why we didn't like the Amazon Echo, no answers from that one.
We also use the Google Home Mini for directions, time, weather, recipies, listening to music, etc.

You just ask Google.... "Hey Google....?"

Last year we noticed my son's chest was protruding outward kind of awkwardly, we took him to the doctor and found out he has the condition called: Pectus Carinatum, a malformation of the chest characterized by a protrusion of the sternum and ribs.
Well, after all of the doctor visits, last week he was given a device to wear tightly around his chest and the worst part for him is getting used to it, especially at night.

Insert here, the Sobakawa pillow. After his second night trying to sleep with the brace without much luck, the doctor recommended him this pillow, even though it hasn't been a remarkable improvement on his night's sleep, it's been really helpful.

The pillow is full of micro-air beads that provide personal contoured support. In his situation, it provides extra support for the brace around his chest, making it a bit easier for him to stay asleep.

It's a small pillow that contours to your needs. It has a bit of an odor that goes away in a couple days.

Well, there you have it, a few of the items that have been trending in our home! :)

Enjoy what's left of the week end and hey, Go Eagles GO!! :D

  1. Some interesting products, Cristina. I am sorry your son has to go through wearing a brace. Is that a long term thing or will the brace correct it permanently. It is so hard to see our kids suffer through things. xo Diana

    1. Hi Diana, I hope you had a great weekend!
He needs to wear the brace until he's 21 or the growing phase has stopped. Though, right now it's the most difficult part, he needs to wear it for 12 hours every day.
As time goes by and we can see improvement, the hours of wearing it will also come down, even to the point that he can use it for a few hours a week or month.

I don't know if he's ever going to get used to wearing that thing at night. He's been using it the most during the day, though, he doesn't bring it to school, too noticeable under t-shirts.
Yes, it's hard to see them go thru this kind of stuff, but he's a trooper and he wants a normal chest. 😉

  2. Cristina,
Technology continues to move forward... faster than I can keep up. The Google Home Mini reminds me of Star Trek, where they just asked the computer for information, instead of typing it in. I agree with you about the vanity's color... not sure I like it with the gray.
