Reader's Kitchen Projects

white kitchen with blue island and green shades

It warms my heart when I receive an email from one of you, my dear readers, telling me that you just finished a project inspired by some of my work.

Yes, that makes me very HAPPY!

That's the first goal I set long ago, when I started this blog: to share my projects with you and to give you a detailed description of what was done, so you can accomplish the same project on your own.

Let's start with this project: Closing the empty space above the cabinets
made a huge difference in my kitchen, and it is one of the projects that has inspired many of my readers to give their kitchens a new look.

DIY - kitchen makeover - transform those builder grade cabinets

Bobbi's Kitchen

About six months ago, Bobbi wrote me a note saying she was about to start her kitchen redo by closing off the space above the kitchen cabinets. She was a bit hesitant because her husband wasn't gonna be a big help.

Guess what? She did it all by herself!

From my own experience, it might be challenging, but it will empower you. I think Bobbi gained the confidence to tackle anything around her home.

Isn't this a remarkable transformation?!

builder's grade kitchen transformation

She closed the space above the cabinets, added moldings, painted the cabinets, installed that gorgeous backsplash, added hardware, etc., etc.

The only job she hired out was the countertop installation.

The kitchen was pretty, but now it looks like a high-end kitchen with the gorgeous details she gave it.

Thanks so much, Bobbi, for sharing your beautiful work!

Anna's Kitchen

Once again, this kitchen was inspired by the same project.

Anna and her husband closed the space above the cabinets, added moldings, and gave the entire kitchen a white paint treatment.

Morgane's Kitchen

Morgane at Bear, Dolly, and Moi also transformed her kitchen (picture below).

A great example of how you can bring beauty to a dated kitchen AND on a budget!

Instead of closing the space, she built the cabinets all the way to the ceiling, inspired by this project HERE:

Let me close this post with before-and-after photos of my kitchen makeover.

As I usually say, it's a lot of work, but it's totally worth it!

The projects I showcased today are a vivid example of my words.

Remember: You can do it!

  1. That's my motto...YOU CAN DO IT! BTW, I have been so jealous of your Kreg jig for so long...I GOT ONE FOR MOTHER'S DAY!!! I can't wait to start using it. My next big purchase is a biscuit joiner....I think I have finally settled on putting board and batten in my entry and I think it would really give my joints a tight, fitted look! Thanks for YOUR inspiration!
