While I love diving into a big home improvement project, sometimes it's nice to clear the workbench and make room for a little creative fun! Recently, I took a break from the power tools to spend some quality time crafting—though the "kids" involved look a little different these days.
While my son has officially outgrown the glue-stick phase, my daughter has always been the artist of the family, experimenting with everything from clay to wax. Even now that she's in college and balancing a new internship, her creative spark hasn't dimmed. In fact, these DIY Valentine's Day Favor Bags were entirely her idea! She wanted a simple way to bring some holiday cheer to her office, and this easy project was the perfect solution.
The materials:
- Brown paper lunch bags
- Wooden Heart shapes
- Decorative Ribbon
- Acrylic paint
- Old toothbrush
- Hole punch
All the materials were bought at Michaels, and even this project's idea came from their Instagram feed during Christmas.
The bags were given a paint splatter treatment using an old toothbrush and very well-diluted paint (red, pink, and white).
The heart shapes were painted white.
The bags were filled with goodies and candies. Then the top was folded, and a decorative ribbon was passed through the little holes to close them.
The wooden hearts were hung from the ribbon before the ribbon was tied.

ReplyDeleteSharing this with my daughter...she is a "homeroom mom" and this would be perfect for any classroom holiday party! Inexpensive and cute!!!! Told her she could change it up for the holiday...change the paint color and the little card for whatever holiday you are celebrating! Just too cute...thanks Cristina!

These are really good. I love your idea of using them for an office. A home made cookie or muffin would be awesome as well.
