Jars, Jars and more Jars

Well, it looks like my collection of clear jars is growing. It started with the Mason jars found at thrift stores, then I began saving the store bought jars from preserves and sauces, soda bottles also made it here and even a big pickle jar. The thing was, they were scattered all around the house, some of them were in the garage, some others in the basement, the Mason jars were here and there, I didn't even know I had so many! ...

...Until about a week ago when I happened to check these boxes.

These boxes were given to my daughter by one of my husband's friends, he is moving out of state so he's selling and giving away lots of stuff. Since, he knows my daughter likes to  make little figures, he thought these paints and brushes and art stuff would be something she might enjoy. ;)

My daughter took out of the boxes lots of things, mostly items she can use with the making of her Polymer clay figures, the rest, what you see here, was left for "later" and since that later never came,  I went to check and put everything in its proper place.

The thing that immediately draw me in besides the paint, were these cute glass containers, they are tiny!

Look at this cool Ball jar with the mesh lid, I love it! I have no idea what's inside it but I don't want to throw away its content without knowing what it is.

Now you know, instead of emptying the boxes and organizing everything, I got "motivated" to find my -collection- and show it off.  :)

The floating shelves I built in the powder room were the perfect set up.

Besides the small jars, some other items from the carton boxes made it here too, like the wooden sticks and spatula in the previous picture.

The wooden figure was another one from those boxes.

But cotton balls, Q-tips, bandages, soaps, nail tools and  some other things also made it here.

Taking pictures in this small space was not easy, here is how it looks from the outside. You can click HERE to see how it looked before or if you want to see the how to for the floating shelves.

Now that I'm done with the jars I need to go and find a place for the paints and the other knickknacks ;)

And of course I still need to make some of your beautiful floating shelves over my main bathroom toilet, I have almost the same set up. How fun to get all that stuff, that is like Christmas!!

  5. I, too, like jars. I also like bottles and have a few blue and green ones around the house. It's interesting how some of us take to certain things, isn't it?

  7. That is such a great idea! They look pretty on your shelf. They remind me of how we used to walk out east of our property about 1/4 mile in the field to what I think was an old dumping ground of one of the farmers. The kids and I would sometimes find old jars and pop bottles that would heave there way up in the spring from the frost. We would bring them home, scrub them up and the kids would love to display them in their rooms or just around the house.

  8. The small jar with the screen is for putting confectioners sugar in to "dust" cakes and other baked goods. The screen works as a sifter so there's no clumps.

  10. I LOVE clear glass jars. I have loved them since I was young and have always used them to display stuff. I wonder what those little ones that have the flat sides on them contained? Those are really fun little jars. Your displays are perfect, Cristina- xo Diana

  14. I never met a jar or a bottle I did not like! Love your collection. I always look for old mayo and baby food jars. Even my husband now washes out the jars without being asked.
