My latest find!

My last post was about how much I love summer. I really do!

I love the hot weather Summer brings, but when there is too much of something, it is not too good. :/

Last Friday's powerful thunderstorms hit my region, the Washington D.C. area. My neighborhood was left without electricity. :(

Can you imagine that?

TWO days without power, and the temperature outside at almost 100 degrees??

It wasn't fun.

All day Saturday, we tried to stay away from home. On Sunday, this was one of the ways my son and his friends tolerated the high temperature.

As I write this post, there are still thousands without power. All my hopes are for the electricity to be restored soon. It is a nightmare to be without it.

Moving on,  I am so happy with my latest find.

A crib.

Let me tell you about it. First of all, NO! I am not expecting a baby. :)

One of my sisters and her lit baby boy (he is more like a toddler now, 18 mo.) are visiting, and I want to make their stay as comfortable as possible. I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw this beautiful crib on Craiglist.

Mama and baby boy will indeed have a good night's sleep.

Look at this beautiful crib.

Great lines. Or should I say curves?

Those round feet are another of my faves!

Oh, I love it! The best part is that it was only $40 and can be used with other parts as a full-size bed.

I am still deciding what will happen to the crib after the visitors leave, but I went to see some possibilities around blog land.

There are many possibilities that, for now, are on hold. First, I need to set it up as intended because my visitor is coming soon.

  1. Great find! I didn't realize you were in the DC area. I grew up in Silver Spring, but live in the Baltimore area now. One of my friend's just got power back this morning. We actually did not end up losing power, but I know it was definitely a pain for those that did. Megan

  2. Hello! I am in the DC area too, on the Virginia side. I felt so bad too for everyone who loast power, lots of friends and coworkers. We didn't, fortunately.

Just wanted to say hi and let you know that I admire your work!

  6. Great find! We own this crib, and it is currently converted to a full size bed for our four year old. This crib was not a cheap one. I wish we could have found ours on CL. You did good!

  14. I don't know how you could survive with no AC and those temperatures! My niece is coming to visit with her baby next week and I thought how nice it would be to have a crib for her. That's a beautiful crib you found but what will you do for a mattress? That's what's stopping me. That and the fact that my husband would think I was crazy! I love all those ideas you shared too. Thanks!

  20. Love your ideas! Our church nursery had to destroy a bunch last year since they are not to code. I was dreaming of all the cool things that could've been done with them.

  24. You can really do a lot if you have various kinds of gates or pool fences tampa. I also saw some art pieces that is made by it too. By the way, I love the chair and the center table you have here, very resourceful and creative. Good Job!
