A Thanksgiving Tablescape

The season for party ideas and beautiful holiday table settings is here and if you're looking for inspiration on the latter one, you got to the right place.

Today I'm joining a group of blogging friends on a Thanksgiving table setting tour. We're all bringing to you 19 beautiful tablescapes that fit different decor and lifestyles in hopes of giving you ideas for your table setting this thanksgiving day.

If you're coming over from DIY Decor Mom welcome! I love all the ideas Annie shares to keep the kids busy and happy at the table this turkey day.

For the past several years my sister-in-law is the one who has hosted thanksgiving and this year she's doing it again. I'm so very grateful to her for having us. As many of you know, I barely cook for the four of us. Cooking is something I have to do, but I don't enjoy it much.  Just the thought of cooking for more than 10 people gives me lots of anxiety! :D

Having said that, while my SIL prepares the most delicious food, I'm the one in charge of the decor.  I usually stop by her house two days prior to thanksgiving to arrange the table and add some decor around the house.

Today I'm going to give you some tips I always have in mind when setting a thanksgiving tablescape.

  • Make it easy on yourself, thanksgiving is about what you love and enjoy, family, friends and good food. You don't need a sophisticated table. But, you can set a beautiful table with stuff you already own.
  • Arrange a table centerpiece. I love fresh flowers. you can buy them or you can use what you have in your own backyard. -Last year I used dried hydrangeas from my SIL's backyard.

  • Use fruits and the season's harvest as table decor. Pears, apples, grapes, and persimmons are some of the fruits commonly used and that you might even have at hand. Pumpkins, gourds, corn, and wheat are also seasonal staples.
  • When arranging a big table setting or one conformed of different tables, bring harmony to the settings by using the same type of tablecloth for all of the tables.  Instead of buying expensive tablecloths, head to the fabric store and grab a piece of fabric long enough to cover the table-s. I love to check the remnant pile for even better prices. Remember that you can also create runners across the table or use one long runner from end to end.

  • For small gatherings, your beautiful china will make a good statement. But, white dishes are always easy to work with.
  • However, disposable plates, silverware, and even napkins have come a long way. You can find pretty designs that will make your table look good and your workload after the meal less stressful if you have many guests.

  • Add small touches of seasonal decor around the room and other areas of your home to create more ambiance.

Well, there you have them, a few tips I keep on using again and again. :)

The small tablescape is a little rehearsal of what I might use in a couple of weeks.

Now is time for you to check out my friend Laura's beautiful table setting at Duke Manor Farm. While there, make sure you take a tour of her gorgeous home which is my dream home, yes that is pretty!

  1. Your simple accents of the pears and amber bottles completely elevate the all white table setting. I absolutely love it!

  2. Beautiful Cristina and I don't really like to cook either. For larger groups it's nice to have the others bring a dish. That's how our family does it. Less work that way.

  5. So beautiful - I love the pears! We host Thanksgiving but luckily a few people bring side dishes to help out. I actually enjoy cooking for Thanksgiving though. After hosting the holiday for so many years, I have a routine.

    1. Thanks Shelley! Those pears attracted me with their beautiful golden color. And yes, each of us also bring a dish, otherwise it would be way to much work for the host.

  6. Cristina! It's all so pretty! I love the pears -- great minds think I like! And I totally agree - I'd decorate the whole house before I'd cook the Thanksgiving meal. ;)

  7. Oh dear Christina, I love all the tablescapes for Thanksgiving. I didn't know otherwise I'd join with my table who was featured four times, maybe it was of some friends taste. I am a Libra, so I love this season and bring brought up in NY. I do have pears on my centerpiece too. Theyre are so warm for this occasion.
I do cook Thanksgiving or anything else for that matter. I like cooking for lots of family and friends. My daughter will give birth in November in Miami, so I will be cooking Thanksgiving.
Gracias mi querida por tu cariñosa visita... hiciste mi dia !
