Easter Egg Tree

Brighten Your Home with a DIY Easter Egg Tree

Last weekend, I finally checked a long-awaited project off my bucket list: my very first DIY Easter Egg Tree. I've wanted to tackle this for a long time, and I'm so excited to show you how a few simple materials can create a stunning, festive centerpiece for your home.

Whether you're looking for a budget-friendly craft or a sophisticated holiday focal point, this guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.

Sourcing Your Branches

The "bones" of this project came from a lucky find. I used branches I scavenged a few weeks ago from around the neighborhood—you can read more about my foraging adventures HERE.

Local crews are still trimming trees in my area, and while the piles of branches are tempting, I've officially reached my "tree branch project" limit for the season!

If you're making your own, look for sturdy, multi-pronged branches like willow, cherry, or even dried birch.

The Secret Ingredient: A Jelly Bean Twist

This is an incredibly easy project that delivers maximum "Easter spirit" for just a few dollars. However, I decided to give mine a colorful twist by filling the base with Jelly Beans.

Pro Tip: Using candy as a vase filler looks amazing, but it can get pricey! While it cost a bit more than I anticipated, the bright layers are worth it—plus, we’ll definitely be "recycling" those Jelly Beans as snacks later on. ;)

Materials:

How to Build the Base

To get that professional layered look, I used a "double-container" method:

1.  The Containers: I started with a large glass hurricane and found a smaller glass cylinder to fit inside it. The goal is to have a small gap between the two for your filler.

2.
Adding Height: My inner container was a bit too short, so I got creative. I found some foam circles in the basement, cut them to fit, and taped them to the bottom of the hurricane to act as a riser.

3.  Layering the Colors: I filled the gap with layers of Jelly Beans, starting with green.

4.  Continue stacking the layers of Jelly Beans: My second color, yellow, and working all the way up.

5.  Securing the Branches: I placed a block of floral foam inside the smaller center container to give the branches a secure, upright hold.

6.  The Finishing Touch: To prevent the top layer of Jelly Beans from falling into the center container, I cut a custom cardboard ring to "bridge" the gap before adding the final candy layer.

The Final Result

Once the base was set, the best part began: hanging the ornaments! I chose a mix of pastel eggs to keep it classic. It's a simple, meditative process that instantly transforms a few bare sticks into a work of art.

  11. I use to make Easter egg trees as a child. I used an old flower pot and plaster to set spray panted branches in. Then came the fun of blowing out the eggs and decorating them.
