Chandelier Spruce Up

Is it Spring or Summer the one arriving in a couple of days??  The weather here's been warm or maybe I should say, HOT! All this week is going to be in the 80's! when it should been around the 50's or 60's?  Well, I'm not complaining.

I've been pretty busy preparing things for Easter.  My sister is visiting and I want to have everything ready so we can have plenty of time to go shopping and shopping!  yeah, that's why she is coming, well besides checking on her ol' sista.

I'm trying to give my dinning room a springy feel.  That's a room we don't use that much, that means I don't see it everyday, so I try not to bother with it that much! There are lots of things I want to do to it but they can waaaaait.

Ok, back to the Springy feel I want to give to it.  Do you think this Chandelier says Spring?

I hope so, because that's what kept me busy most of the weekend.

First, let's go back to what I had; this beautiful brass chandelier was not so inspiring any more.

But then, like two years ago, I couldn't stand it any longer.. and I painted it black.

I added some Christmas decorations and I thought it couldn't look any better. Well, those decorations stayed there until last week. hmmm and I think they were there for two years.

Some how the room felt sad. I needed to change the chandelier, but before doing so I wanted to give it another look, for the season. ;)

Once again, spray painting it.👍

I found out is better to wrap the "plastic candles" with a piece of plastic, securing it with one of those grocery store ties.  Last time I painted it I used painters tape and it was harder for me to wrap the tape around.

When it was all painted, it looked like this:

Fine, right? but it needed some pizzazz.  On my trip to the Dollar Store to get some Easter treats for the kids, the glass beads to fill vases got my attention. They had a good color assortment, and for one buck each, I gotta give them a try.  I got three.

At home I kept thinking of a way to connect them to the chandelier?  I still don't know what kind of glue sticks to glass? I checked Super Glue, nope, Liquid Nails, nope! I didn't want to go buy something expensive.
The thing I had around the house that worked, was tape. Adhering the stringing to the bead.

Like this, placing the little pieces of tape on top of the bead string on the back of each glass bead.

I tied two beaded strings and hung them onto the chandelier. I guess it would've been easier to do only one but longer, so no tying needed.

I was afraid of the tape coming loose, so far everything is holding up. Even though I don't recommend you using this for a very long time. I'm going to have them there, later on I'll let you know when they begin falling.

You can check how nicely it sets the tone for my Easter Tablescape HERE.
    Hugs,

  26. Just oundyour blog through southern Hospitality. Very Inspirational. Did you paint your while still hung up in room? How did yo prevent an over spray mess? Thanks

  27. Yes Nancy, I did paint it right there in the room! I closed the two entrances to the room with plastic curtains, opened the windows, and covered the floor, table and chair cushions. Even with all that prep. I had to clean the back of the chairs, mirror and all around after I finished. I think here I can say: The lazy one works double.
