Give Visual Interest to a Big Wall with Board and Batten

August 07, 2020

Have you ever been faced with the dilemma of how to decorate a big wall in your home without braking the bank?!  Yep. I've been there too, and the right solution to make that blank space less ginormours was to install board and batten.

It was my living room the one with a big, bland expanse of a wall, whatever I hung there was completely lost.

Adding storage was the next phase for this mudroom project.

July 14, 2020
Blue Mountauk slate tile - #thdprospective

Deciding on using natural stone slate tile for our little mudroom was an easy choice! Not only I love the color of this Blue Mountauk Slate tile, but all those compressed layers of rock give them that wonderful texture. Every single slate tile is different, and all grouped they are simply beautiful!

When I first heard the name Blue Mountauk I thought the tile was going to be more on the blue side, but nope. it's more on the green-ish.

I'm going to give you a recount of how our slate tile installation went, the materials and tools we used, and I'm also giving you some tips that might be helpful if you decide on installing slate tile in your own home.

This picture below is how our laundry room looked after the walls were patched and a new door was installed. The floor... Blah.
