Rustic Christmas Tree

flocked christmas tree, wooden ornaments, chalkboard ornaments, galvanized bucket, pinecone and acorn garland, mantel, teddy bear, presents

Hey there,

I've been waiting patiently for the clouds to roll out so I could take some pics of my home, which is all decked out for the holidays. It looks like the sunny days are finally here!

Pffft, so many grey days. :/

It's so good I'm using a bright palette for my decor.

This is the first year we've had the tree in the family room by the fireplace. We're enjoying it even more than in past years when it was left alone in the living room.

I wanted to use a wooden box or container to hold the tree. I didn't want to use a tree skirt to cover the base, so the hunt was on...

After looking in stores without any luck for a wooden container that I liked at a reasonable price, building one was closer to finding the perfect one. However, on our last outing to the neighborhood flea market, we found this vintage galvanized tub for only 10 bucks; we immediately pictured it holding the tree!

Mr. RLC  had to make some adjustments because the tree base was a tad bigger than the base of the tub. Once he was done, the decorating part began.

The embroidery hoop ornaments I made in October were the first to make it to the tree. Talk about a natural palette. ;)

The plain wooden ornaments I got at Michel's worked perfectly, too...

I have them all scattered between deer antlers, denim stars, cotton balls...

I also hung many of those wooden chalkboard ornaments from Target that I might or might not add some words to.

Topping the tree is a galvanized 3D star that ties in with the tub holding the tree.

The tree came with some pinecones, but I added some more.

Some fellows are calling this their temporary home. ;)

I like my tree this year, and it was effortless to decorate.

  2. Your tree looks beautiful and so many lovely ornaments. I did a neutral Christmas living room and tree plus dining room two years ago and really loved it. I am thinking next year that I may go that route again.

  4. Our home is full of rustic decor, so our tree always has rustic touches to it. We always have fun, family ornaments though!

  6. It is so pretty! I like the addition of the galvanized tub and star and the grain sack bench and your rustic packages. Just lovely! One year I decorated my tree with dried hydrangeas from my garden, birds' nests, clusters of red berries and snowy pine cones. That was my favorite tree ever. I wish I still had hydrangeas so I could do it again.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! I bought the tree last year over at Walmart, It's a Pre-Lit 7.5' Winter Frost Pine Artificial Christmas Tree, Green, Clear lights. $125 before taxes.
The galvanized star is from Michaels, they must bring it again this year. Good luck with them!

  13. Thank you so much for replying, I'm honored :) Your tree is picture perfect and belongs in a magazine. I searched online and they no longer sell your tree, fingers crossed they sell a similar one to yours. One more question. What did you add to the tree are they brown branches of some sort? I can't make if out in the photo. Thanks

    1. You're so sweet, thanks! Search under "Flocked Christmas Trees" that's how this type of tree is commonly called. I saw very similar ones but a bit pricier. No, I didn't add branches, only the ornaments, some extra pine cones and a long piece of ribbon/thick jute rope.

    2. Thanks again :D for replying. I would have never thought of using thick jute rope, I'll have to try that. So the hunt begins for an affordable flocked Christmas tree. Hope you have a blessed day.
