There's even a little story that goes with it. Let me tell you about that.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EThe builder gave us a toilet paper holder smack in the middle of the big front wall of this little room. When we opened the\u0026nbsp;\u003Cspan\u003E\u003C\/span\u003Ebathroom door, or if the door was left open, we only saw the toilet paper roll.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EMany years ago, when I gave the bathroom the first makeover, I moved the location of the toilet paper holder to the opposite wall, as you can see in the left picture below.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EI was so happy that it was now somehow hidden on that wall. Additionally, the holder I installed was perfect because it was an open-hooked design that was very easy to use when exchanging paper rolls.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EHowever, that open-hooked design was precisely the big problem we encountered soon after. When visitors propped themselves to use the nice facility, the toilet paper roll would be launched off the hook and land on the floor.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EAfter multiple toilet paper rescue missions, we got tired of the paper holder and removed the hook, leaving behind an eyesore of a stump.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EFor the past several years, the top of the tank has been the designated spot for toilet paper rolls. I just told you how I wanted the top to be a focal point on the vanity and bathroom.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EThe material that I wanted to top this bathroom floating vanity was marble or granite stone. And that's why I went to a local stone fabricator to find a beautiful stone for my vanity. Here in the DC area, my place to go is \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/architecturestones.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"color: #e06666;\"\u003EArchitecture Stones\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EIf you want to go that same route, let me give you a few tips before you start perusing all those gorgeous slabs:\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cul style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBefore removing your old vanity setup, take measurements of that setup. How far from the wall is the faucet. Is it centered? How high is the sink or the old vanity?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDetermine the size of your new top.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBuy a sink that fits your countertop's size properly.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBuy a faucet.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESketch your new top and draw the location of the sink. How many inches do you want your sink from the front edge of the countertop?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhere do you want your faucet? Centered? How far from the back do you want the faucet installed? If the faucet has separate handles for cold and hot water, how far apart do you want those handles?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBring the new sink and the faucet with you when you go to the stone fabricator.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EI did have the sink and the faucet with me when I went to buy the top, but I wasn't prepared with most of those measurements. I thought they just knew it. Nope. Well, maybe they know, but that's your project. You can ask for almost anything, and they'll do it for you.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EI got my sink centered across the top. The distance from the front edge to the beginning of the sink is three inches.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EThe space between the hot water handle\/faucet\/cold water handle is four inches\/each.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EThe distance from the back to where I wanted the faucet installed is two inches. I was glad I took that measurement and had the picture you see below on my phone. Although, I also had to take into consideration the width of the backsplash.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003ERemember that they accommodate your needs.
