Christmas In the Dining and Living Room

dining room with built-ins decorated for Christmas

Hi there,

Today I'll be sharing the dining and living room decor as part of the Christmas Home Tours hosted by the lovely Marty, from A Stroll Thru Life. If you haven't checked out her beautiful home, you have to do so! I love the big Christmas tree she decorated this year.
If you're coming from Thrifty and Chic, welcome! Wasn't Alicia's tour just amazing... I love all her DIY projects and her beautiful neutral decor.

Let's get started here! I've been in full renovation mode in the family room building a huge wall of shelves. That room is still closed up with a big piece of plastic that prevents dust from coming into the other rooms. But, as soon as I cross that plastic curtain, the kitchen and the other rooms are all dressed in their beautiful Christmas attire.

White, gold, and some pops of black conform to my Christmas theme this year. Last year I used lots of red, so this year I wanted something different.

The main focal point in the dining room is the "believe" sign. Three days ago I was taking a refresher course on how to use my Silhouette machine to make these cut-outs.

I love the simplicity and kind of magic it gives to the entire room. I didn't want to hang a picture, there, above the bench, sometimes the art is still bothersome to those that sit there.

Besides, that bench is going to be used a lot this holiday season because we're going to have a full house! Yes, we're so very excited! Three nieces and a nephew are coming from Colombia to spend the holidays with us.

I'm so very happy to have these young visitors, they're ranging in age from 7 to 17.  And I know this room is going to be one of the spots we're all going to hang out the most.

The top shelves sport Christmas decor, but on the lower shelves, I'm storing regular plates, bowls, silverware, and napkins that my visitors can grab at any time.

I set the table in a "help-yourselves" kind of way, stacking plates, napkins, and a bunch of mugs.
Ceramic lanterns with fairy lightsball ornaments, and fresh and faux greenery create a simple centerpiece that says Christmas.

I also added fairy lights to the chandelier and I love the mood the little lights give to the room.

The contiguous living room was left with minimum decor. I love the new round mirror. I tried to add some decor to it, but I didn't like it, alone it was left.

A pretty throw pillow was easy enough holiday decor in here.

On the other side of the room, I placed my first Christmas tree of the season atop a stack of books to give it more height. Pom garlands and lights were its simple decor.

I went for a fuss-free Christmas decor this year.  This is a small casa that is going to feel very cozy with all eight of us for the next few weeks!

  2. Christina, your home is gorgeous. I absolutely adore that "Believe" wall you created in the dining room, how stunning is that. I love how you set the table too. Serve yourself and help yourself is the only way to go with a lot of people. Every vignette is so pretty. I can't wait to see the finished wall of shelves too, it is really turning out amazing as well. Thanks so much for joining the tours, I love seeing your home.
