Ceilings don't have to be boring

One of the things many of us disregard when decorating a room is the so called "fifth wall", by doing so we are missing a great opportunity to give our rooms that professional, finished look.  You are wasting a great opportunity to create warmth or perhaps add drama to your room by leaving those ceilings plain white when there are hundreds of ways for you to dress them up.

Most of the time we only pay attention to our ceilings when something bad happens to them, like in the lovely room below.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Armstrong, they contacted me and asked for my opinion on what would I do to the damaged ceiling in the picture below, using Armstrong Residential Ceiling Products.
How to fix a water damaged ceiling in white room

It obviously looks like there were some water issues in the room upstairs. Once the leak was fixed, this room was left with pretty ugly water stains mostly on the ceiling.

After reviewing all the Armstrong ceiling products I am now convinced that ceiling tiles are for use not only in offices and basements, as I thought. There are beautiful ceiling tiles, planks and drop panels that would make any room in your home or as a matter of fact, any ceiling in your home to come alive!

My first choice to fix this room's dilemma would be by using the WoodHaven Ceiling Plank.  The planks can be positioned with the Easy Up Armstrong installation system shown in the video right HERE.  Besides the easy installation I love the plain statement they create, having in consideration the beautiful millwork in the room.

My second choice would be to use the Drop Panel Metallaire Bead. A substrate is installed over the damaged drywall ceiling, where the panels can be nailed in place.  This option would give the ceiling some more impact than the one before but at the same time it would work nicely with what it's already in the room.

There are hundreds of possibilities to update the ceilings in your home. You can visit Armstrong to look for the ceiling you want. You can search by ceiling type: tiles, planks, drop panels solutions or by style, color, size or my favorite way, by project solutions like basement remodeling, to cover popcorn ceilings, sound blocking and many more.

I am leaving you with some inspiration pictures, all from Armstrong ceilings:

  1. You're right Crisceilings shouldn't be disregarded, indeed. Wein Latin America do pay a lot of attention when building a house, we do a lot 'la viga vista' (beams), the Wood panel type and of course the plaster ones with great finishes. I love the great ideas you've shared here. Hugs,

  4. Um you may have just solved my whole dilemma I am working on right this very minute with our front room and dining room!! We had a leak and rather than refinish the spot and have to redo the whole area to match the ugly spanish lace texture.... I wanted to wallpaper it instead. But now I find the texture may be too much to take the paper. And like an angel of ceilings, here you are:) I am going to check out my options now!!

  8. I love the Plank ceiling and of course the Coffer Drop Panel! Gorgeous. Funny you featured this as I just installed some ceiling tiles in the basement in a very untraditional way. Still have to paint it but decided to wait until the snow flies, and with that chill in the air, it could be very soon!

  15. We are getting quotes to possibly raise the ceiling in our kitchen remodel, but with the cost of everything we may need to consider another option...like this. Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

  16. I love tiled ceilings - a lot of the older buildings around here (Roanoke, VA) have them and I think they add so much character!
