A few weeks ago while at the flea market I scored a whole bunch of silver pieces and an old tray. I've been using the silver pieces to decorate around the house while the tray waited in the garage. Well, it was time to give it some TLC!
The first thing I had to do was to remove that ugly paper, then a good clean up to eliminate all the gunk that had been accumulated for the past 25 years, as the previous owner told me, it was used as a wall decor all that time!
Sanded and patched up...
Ready for a good coat of paint...
And a pretty piece of fabric, to replace the floral.
After picking my daughter up from school the other day, I'm driving back home when off the road some green "balls" under a tree catch my attention! As soon as I found a safe place to park the car, I went back with my daughter to check what it was?! Hedge Apples! I knew nothing about them until I read a post from Linda at Coastal Charm, about decorating with them. One of the many things I've learned while blogging. :)
I love how rough they feel and that bright green color!
As soon as I finished working on the tray I knew these apples were going to be a good contrasting color to decorate the purple tray.
Some more sanding was needed. :( ...Buuuut, I liked how it looked with all the distressing!
It was like if the tray wanted to show its age, dents and scratches, in a "new" more stylish way, I guess!
And that's the way I left it!
