Felt Snowman

This past weekend Christmas decorating began at home. I loved that my kids were ready to give me a helping hand with the projects. I kept on asking them for help on cutting, gluing, painting, and the most frequently asked favor... Bring me this or that.  I love them! We worked while listening to Christmas carols, and that made our decorating even more special.

The first project was creating these mischievous looking fellows!

These cute little guys are on their ride to steal your heart!

*The instructions on how create these snowmen were taken from magazine clippings someone gave me. As a reader pointed out, it looks like it was a BHG magazine.

Materials for 5:
  • 9"x12" felt pieces.  2 White, 1 black, 1 orange.
  • 1 skein green DMC Pearl Cotton size 3
  • 10 5mm and 15 10mm black pompoms
  • 11/2 yard 3/8"-wide red satin ribbon
  • Embroidery needle
  • Stuffing
  • spray adhesive
Directions for one:
1. Download the pattern HERE.
2. Cut two snowman (white felt), two hats (black felt), and one carrot (orange felt)

3. Use spray adhesive to attach the black hats to each snowman.   The black hats are a bit larger than the ones in the snowman in order to overlap the edge of white felt.  Attach the carrot to the front.

4. Embroider 3 green straight stitches at the top of carrot.
5. Pin snowmen together right sides out.  Starting at bottom, blanket-stitch edges with pearl cotton, stopping at bottom to stuff.  Finish stitching.

6. Glue on small pompom eyes and 3 pompom buttons.
7. Tie 12" ribbon around neck.  Trim ends diagonally and you are done with one of these guys.

  17. Okay so maybe I am awesome like you (heehee) because I was thinking about making something like this except with gingerbread men. And since I just learned how to sew I was thinking about "whip stitiching" them? A ver como me salen pero los tuyos son preciosos! :)
