Small Apartment Living

Some of you already know I am on vacation.  Yeah, I'm with my family in Bogotá, Colombia S.A.
We decided to rent an apartment since our stay is going to be a bit long, almost a month, and money wise this way works better for us.

This is the place we found:

Like in most major cities, apartments are the most common kind of living here in Bogotá.  Usually, they are very small.

I am going to give you a tour of this apartment and tell you some of the features I like the most.

Let's begin with the living room, a room full of light like the entire apartment,  modern furniture, and a monochromatic color scheme.

I love the big coffee table.

Another view, peaking into the kitchen throughout that small window that connects both spaces.

From this new angle, my kids trying to model :)

The cute little fireplace that I'm not sure if it works, and that lovely niche to display treasures are good visual dividers of the living and dining room.

Perhaps one of the most dramatic views, once you enter the apartment, is this wall. Like a big Shoji screen. Isn't it gorgeous?  Right before it, the dining table with its marble pedestal ties in with the coffee table in the living room.

On both sides are the sliding door entrances to the bedrooms.  Something that I think is ingenious! Freeing space that otherwise would be taken by regular doors.

Once again a big piece of art helps define this space.

I also love the wooden bead-boarded ceiling all around the apartment, it gives the place a warming feeling.

The master bedroom is a continuation of what you have already seen.  White on white tones.  Walls, floors, drapes, and bedding, give the feeling of openness with their off whites.

Trim work, ceiling, doors, and furniture made of wood give the warm or cozy factor.

I really like how they used mirrors in all the rooms.  Here in the master bedroom, this full wall mirror top up with a pair of roman shades gives the illusion of a big window, and also of more space.

A very good size closet creates a pathway between the bedroom and bathroom.

The master bathroom is small, but just what you need, and beautifully done.

The second bedroom, the one my kids are sharing, was given to us with two twin-size beds upon request.

As I already told you, mirrors play a big role in making this small place feel larger.

Hello Everybody! That's me taking the pics.

The closet space is big, for this being such a small bedroom.  I love the woodwork!

The second full bathroom, not inside the bedroom but in the main living space, is full of light because of a skylight, another great feature.

Finally the kitchen, small, but well equipped, serves its purpose.  It even holds a washer and dryer.

A comfortable place to stay.  Here you see my son busy with technology :)

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  I'll be back with more from Bogotá soon.

  7. Cristina- What a GREAT rental. It makes so much sense to rent a whole apartment for a month long stay. I love mirrors that are used to make a place look larger. We have several mirrored areas on the back walls of our house to reflect the bay and water views back at us. Thanks for the tour. Your kiddos are adorable (models!;>) Blessings- xo Diana
